Who we are

The Butterfly Botanist is about growing plants that help butterflies. Flowers like zinnias, lantanas, and coneflowers give them nectar to drink, while plants like milkweed, parsley, and dill give them places to lay eggs and food for their caterpillars. Together, these plants make a garden that butterflies can depend on.

Butterflies need both flowers for energy and leafy plants for raising young. By planting a mix of these, a garden becomes more than just colorful—it becomes a safe home for butterflies to live and grow.

Anyone can start helping by growing even a few plants. Whether it’s a pot on the porch or a full garden, every plant makes a difference. Growing for butterflies brings beauty to your space and supports nature at the same time.
